This week we have really enjoyed the story of The Ugly Duckling. We wrote to the duckling to make him feel better about himself and the children came up with some really lovely letters. We also experimented with watercolours and colour mixing, with some great effects. Next week, we will be reading animal poems and coming up with our own. In maths we will be building on our counting skills and start to learn more about place value of numbers up to 20.
During our final week with the ducklings we have had fun building enclosures for them with Lego and making observational drawings. The children have learned a lot about ducks and wrote some brilliant facts about them. Mrs Hobbs and I were very impressed with what they could recall! We used eggs to record various ways of making 6, 7 and beyond. Next week, we will be doing writing based around the story The Ugly Duckling and re-visiting subtraction.
