Today we learnt all about the Jewish festival of Sukkot. Some of the children from year 4 came down to show us their sukkah models and told us why the roofs are made from natural materials. Then we had a go at making our own pictures using natural materials that we collected from around the school grounds.
I'm looking forward to sharing the children's writing with you at Parent Consultations. They have written some marvellous poetry, using some excellent adjectives. We are now writing about "Dogger", the famous lost dog created by the great Shirley Hughes... The class are working very hard and are really in the swing of Year 2 now! The children in reception really enjoyed exercising with our mindfulness story today. We went on an adventure to the seaside and met some fun characters while moving and stretching our bodies. We can't wait for our next adventure!
This week Year 4 have enjoyed their first Samba lesson with the Dorset Music Service. We all learnt the instruments names and got to play each of them in turn. It was brilliant and we hope to perform to the school and parents at the end of this term, so please watch this space...
In year 1 we take turns to say a prayer at lunch time and at the end of the day. Here Bethany is leading the class in a quiet prayer thanking God for our school, our teachers and for the yummy food that we are about to eat!
Year 4 have got off to a very democratic start this year by holding elections for the school council, house captains and play leaders. The school council will provide a voice for the children over the year and will allow them to affect changes to help make our school an even better place.
