Autumn in Reception

We have had a fantastic time in reception this week thinking about Autumn. We collected lots of different autumn leaves and used them to make some beautiful Autumn mobiles. In literacy we were thinking about our family trees and the children worked really hard to use their sounds to begin to write words for some of their family members! In maths we have been looking closely at the number 5 using numicon. We have tried to see how many different ways we can make 5 only using numicon. It was lots of fun!

Ready, Steady, Cook!

This week we have been celebrating harvest. After a lovely service at the church we started to think about harvest all over the world and to celebrate this Miss Humphrys and Mrs Wainewright took part in a pizza making challenge in collective worship. They both tried very hard but the children in year 4 decided that Miss Humphrys' pizza looked the best (surprise, surprise)! We then though about how far those ingredients had travelled to make the pizzas, and each pizza had a staggering 16,500 food miles from producers to our hall! We are so lucky to have all of these wonderful ingredients at our finger tips, but at harvest especially, we can think about the impact our food has on the environme
