About us

At Hampreston First School, the children are at the heart of everything we do. The five years that they spend with us are precious and special, and it is an honour for us to be the start of their educational Learning Journey.

We want our children to develop as confident individuals who are able to live a safe, healthy and happy life.  We want our children to make a positive contribution to their community and develop a sense of belonging and responsibility.  We want them to be proud of everything that they do, enabling them to become valuable citizens of our society.

We are committed to fostering a love of learning by providing a curriculum that is rooted in a desire to bring out the best in all of our children, preparing them for success in life. We aspire to walk together in hope along the Hampreston pathway, guided by our Christian Values of ambition, respect and love.

We respect the past and retain some long-standing traditions of this Christian village school, whilst ensuring that every opportunity available in the 21st century is offered to our children with the most up-to-date facilities. We enjoy a close relationship with our local church and the message of the Christian gospel is at the heart of everything we do.  We build close relationships with the children and adults in our school community and recognise that every child is a unique and precious individual.

Enjoy browsing our website and seeing what opportunities Hampreston can provide for your child.  You are also very welcome to visit our school.  Please ring the office to make an appointment.

Vision & Values

This vision is rooted in the teachings of Jesus; he taught us to love one another, “To love God and to love one another” (Matthew 22 v.37-39) and reminded us to grow with care and thought in the Parable of the Sower, Matthew 13.

The Parable of the Sower inspires our values of Ambition, Respect and Love.

Our vision narrative:

The Parable of the Sower (Matthew 13) is a powerful illustration of highlighting the importance of how we receive, nurture and act on god’s word in our lives. A receptive heart strengthens our relationship with God but also enables us to embody his love in our interactions with those around us. It is a call to be fertile soil where God’s love can grow and be shared abundantly.

We can draw inspiration from this parable to incorporate these values into our daily lives at Hampreston First School.

Ambition

In terms of ambition, the parable can be seen as a metaphor for how people pursue their goals and dreams:

  • Path: Some people may have ambitions but lack understanding or direction, leading to missed opportunities.

  • Rocky Ground: Others may start with enthusiasm but give up when faced with difficulties, lacking the perseverance to see their ambitions through.

  • Thorns: Some may be distracted or hindered by external pressures and temptations, preventing them from achieving their full potential.

  • Good Soil: Those who are like the good soil are the ones who not only have ambition but also the understanding, perseverance, and focus to nurture their goals and see them to fruition.

This parable encourages reflection on how one approaches their ambitions and the importance of cultivating the right mindset and environment to achieve success.

Respect

  • The Parable of the Sower can illustrate respect in several ways, particularly in how it acknowledges the different responses and conditions of individuals:

  • Respect for Diversity: The parable recognizes that people are different and will respond to the same message in various ways. This reflects respect for individual differences and the understanding that everyone has their own unique journey and challenges.

  • Respect for Growth: The parable highlights the importance of nurturing and cultivating good soil to produce a fruitful crop. This can be seen as respecting the potential for growth and development in individuals.

  • Respect for Choices: By showing the different types of soil, the parable respects the choices people make and the consequences of those choices.

Love

The Parable of the Sower can reflect love in several profound ways:

  • Unconditional Love: The sower scatters seeds everywhere, regardless of the type of soil. This act symbolizes unconditional love, showing that the message of love is offered to everyone, without discrimination or judgment.

  • Patience and Perseverance: The sower's willingness to continue sowing seeds despite knowing that not all will flourish demonstrates a patient and persevering love. It reflects the idea that love involves continuous effort and hope, even when the results are uncertain.

  • Nurturing Growth: The parable emphasizes the importance of nurturing good soil to produce a fruitful crop. This can be seen as an act of love, where care and attention are given to help others grow and thrive.

  • Respect for Individual Journeys: By acknowledging the different types of soil and their responses, the parable shows love through respect for each individual's unique journey and challenges. It recognizes that everyone has their own path and that love involves supporting and understanding these differences.

  • Encouragement and Support: The parable encourages those who are receptive to the message to grow and produce a bountiful harvest. This reflects a loving desire to see others succeed and flourish.
