Religious Education and World Views

Vision

The Vision for Religious Education at Hampreston enables all children to explore world religions and faiths, by answering big questions which unpick the key principles of each religion. This helps our children to establishing their own core beliefs and practices by relating it to their experiences and everyday lives through vibrant and engaging RE lessons.

Religious Education and World Views Curriculum

Right of Withdrawal from Religious Education

Religious Education (RE) is a valued and important part of our curriculum and contributes significantly to our Christian vision and ethos. Through RE, pupils are encouraged to explore Christianity as a living faith, alongside other religions and worldviews, and to develop respect, understanding and thoughtful reflection.

Parental Right of Withdrawal

Under the School Standards and Framework Act 1998, parents have the legal right to request that their child is withdrawn, wholly or partly, from Religious Education lessons.

Our Approach

We recognise that families choose our school for a variety of reasons and we respect the diverse beliefs and backgrounds of our school community. In the spirit of openness and partnership, we encourage parents who are considering withdrawal to meet with the Headteacher to discuss the RE curriculum and the educational aims of the subject. This discussion is entirely optional and does not affect the right of withdrawal.
